Torn between a power stretcher and a knee kicker for this tricky hallway...
I went with the power stretcher for my 40-foot hallway job last Tuesday because the knee kicker left ripples on the previous install, but now I'm wondering if the extra setup time was worth it for such a narrow space - what do you guys usually do for long, skinny rooms?

700 square feet of hallway and you're worried about extra setup time? I'd say the power stretcher was the right call for sure, ripples in a 2 foot wide hallway will stick out like a sore thumb. Sounds like you did yourself a favor honestly.

Ripples in a 2 foot wide hallway will stick out like a sore thumb" - that's the part that gets me. How many times have you seen a hallway that looked fine from the doorway but turned into a mess once you actually walked down it? I'd be curious though, what's your opinion on whether that extra setup time actually saves you time in the long run versus having to go back and fix ripples later? Seems like you'd rather spend an extra ten minutes stretching than an hour pulling carpet back up.
