Visited a new build in Phoenix and noticed the carpet was laid before the drywall finished

Saw a crew installing carpet in a house where the painters weren't even done yet. Dust and paint flecks were already on the fresh pile. Do you prefer waiting until everything else is finished or just push through and clean up after?

Yeah but @faith_thomas, doesn't that dust and paint get ground into the fibers before you can clean it up? I've seen crews try to vacuum fresh paint flecks out of carpet and it never comes all the way clean. Seems like you're either paying for new carpet later or paying a cleaner to come out and still not be happy with the result. Why not just wait the extra day or two for painters to finish and save yourself the headache?

Yeah, I get that point @faith_thomas, but I've gotta push back on "a little dust" - that stuff gets everywhere. I've seen paint chips and drywall dust work their way deep into carpet fibers, and even a good vacuum can't always get it out without grinding it in more. Then you're stuck with that permanent faded spot or textured mess that no one wants. So to me, it still feels like you're rolling the dice either way, just with different kinds of damage. I'd rather wait the two days and not have to worry about my carpet looking like a craft project gone wrong.

Trust me, cleaning up a little dust is way cheaper than fixing carpet that got soaked or damaged later.
