Best cassette swap day I've had in months
Last Wednesday I traded a box of old gospel tapes for a mint condition copy of The Joshua Tree. The guy threw in a sealed Maxell XL-II for free. I also found a 1987 demo tape from a local punk band stuffed in a goodwill bin later that same afternoon. It was just one of those weird days where everything lined up. Has anyone else ever stumbled onto something like that where the whole day just clicked?

That Maxell XL-II being sealed is actually a bigger deal than most people realize (those things sound incredible on the right deck and they're getting harder to find in good shape). The punk demo from 87 is probably the real treasure though, those local tapes capture a specific time and place that you just can't replicate, no matter how good modern recording gear gets. I had a similar day maybe four years back where I found a box of 80s thrash metal demos at a garage sale for like three bucks total, and it turned out one of them was from a band that later got signed to Metal Blade. The thrift gods are real man, they just pick their moments carefully.

honestly that sounds like a magical day lol. i feel like those moments are rare but when they happen its almost like the universe is giving you a high five. finding a local punk demo in a goodwill bin is wild man, those old demos can have such raw energy that you just don't get anymore. and a sealed maxell xlii for free? that's like finding gold in a cereal box. i love when the thrift gods smile on you like that, makes all the bad days worth it. glad you got to experience that kinda day.
