Dropped $75 on a bulk lot of 100 tapes at a flea market in Toledo, and half were moldy
Went to a flea market over in Toledo last month and this guy had a whole box of cassettes, 100 for $75. I thought I hit the jackpot. Got them home and cracked the first case open and the tape inside had white fuzz all over it. Mold. About 50 of the 100 were like that. The rest were okay I guess, some decent rock stuff in there, but I paid 75 cents a tape and only half are even playable. Cleaned a few with a q-tip and some alcohol but they still sound bad, all warbly and muffled. Now I am stuck with a bunch of tapes I cant play and a nasty smell in my living room. Should I have asked to open the cases before I paid, or is that rude at a flea market? Trying to figure out if moldy tapes are worth the hassle at all.
