My neighbor made me rethink my whole tape collection last weekend

So I was showing off my sealed Nirvana Bleach copy to my neighbor Dave, and he just goes 'you know that music sounds flat on those old tapes right?' I got defensive at first. He pulled out his own dub of a 1990 radio broadcast and it sounded way more alive than my factory sealed one. Kinda shook my whole view on collecting sealed tapes. Anyone else find that live bootlegs or radio dubs hit different than the official releases?

Hold up, Dave brought a radio dub to an A/B test against a sealed Bleach? That's a bold move. What specifically sounded more alive to you on his tape - was it the low end, or more like the snare and vocals hitting different? I gotta know details on that 1990 broadcast, like what station or show it was from.

Yeah it's like how store-bought bread feels dead compared to the crusty loaf from that one bakery downtown - that factory polish kills whatever made it special in the first place.
