Paid $35 for a Nakamichi head cleaner kit on eBay and it fixed my warble problem in 10 minutes

My thrifted deck had a bad wobble on every tape and I figured the motor was shot so I was ready to toss it. A guy at the flea market in Reno sold me a $35 head cleaner kit with a demagnetizer and the wobble was gone after two passes. Did I just get lucky or is the demagnetizer actually doing the work here?
