Stop calling every old tape a "rare find" when it's just a scratched copy of Huey Lewis

I swear, half the posts in this community are people "thrilled" to find a beat up Columbia House copy of Sports at a thrift store for $2. That's NOT rare. I define rare as something that sold maybe 500 copies at a local indie shop in 1987, not something that was pressed in the MILLIONS. I just saw someone post a generic Billy Joel tape and call it a "holy grail" - come on! If you want real rare, look for stuff from tiny DIY punk labels or local bands that only did one run of 100 tapes. Does anyone else get annoyed by this, or am I just a snob about my collection?

Haha, 100% this. Saw a guy last week bragging about his "grail" that was just a beat up copy of Thriller from a garage sale. Like, my guy, that's the best selling album of all time.

Haha yeah, Ive been that guy. Found a mint copy of Rumours at a thrift store once and posted it like I'd discovered the Holy Grail. My buddy just said "dude, that album sold like 40 million copies, it's not rare." Brutal but fair. We all get caught up in the hype sometimes. Makes you feel like a clown when you step back and realize you're just buying the same records everyone else has.
