Was totally wrong about those TDK SA cassettes

Ngl I always thought the TDK SA90s were overhyped and just a waste of money compared to my usual Maxell UR90s. But last week I grabbed a sealed 3-pack at a thrift store in Portland for $5 and recorded a live set from a local punk show. Honestly the clarity on the high end blew my mind, no hiss at all. Anyone else change their mind on a specific tape brand after trying it yourself?

This is literally what happened to me with those same SA90s a few months ago. I finally get the hype now after hearing how clean my drums sounded.

And honestly the thing that gets me about those mics is how much they change the way you hear your own room. Like a lot of people chase gear without realizing their space is coloring everything in a bad way until something this clean shows up. Once you fix that piece of the puzzle, suddenly all your other gear starts making way more sense too.
