A friend told me my pan looked 'sad' because I never used oil after washing.
I started giving it a light rub with canola oil while it's still warm from the rinse, and the difference after a month is huge. Anyone else have a simple step they added that made a big improvement?

Actually, letting it cool a bit is key. A warm pan is fine, but too hot and the oil just burns off or gets gummy. A quick wipe once it's just warm to the touch works way better.

That's actually a great tip, but you should let it cool a bit first. Applying oil while it's super hot can make it polymerize weird.

Oh man, this is such a bigger life thing. It's all about hitting that right moment, not rushing to the next step. Like waiting for paint to dry before a second coat, or letting coffee cool a sip so you can actually taste it. Jump the gun and you just make a mess. The sweet spot is everything.
