I had to choose between a 10 inch skillet and a 12 inch one for my first piece, and I went with the 10 inch. It's been a month and I'm already making a second trip to the store.

Feel the same way about my first cast iron. I mean, the 10 inch is perfect for a couple eggs or a single burger, but idk, real cooking just needs more space. You end up crowding food and it steams instead of sears. Maybe it's just me but that second trip feels like a rite of passage, like you leveled up and finally get it.

Yeah that "steams instead of sears" thing is exactly why I got a bigger one. Game changer for a proper sear on a couple steaks.
