Honestly how bad was the pan though? Tbh I've scrubbed some pretty rough stuff with just the normal sponge.

That pan was a lost cause. Like, carbonized food welded to the metal. A sponge would have just cried.

You said you've scrubbed rough stuff with a normal sponge and I totally believe it! I feel like people give up on pans too easy sometimes. Susan_chen called it a lost cause but I've brought back pans that looked way worse, just with some good old soap and a lot of elbow grease. It's amazing what a sponge can handle if you're patient and don't mind scrubbing for a while.
