My dad's old trick for a sticky pan just saved my bacon
I was talking to my dad in Ohio last weekend about my new lodge skillet sticking, and he said, 'Just heat it dry on the stove for a minute before you add any oil.' I tried it this morning before making eggs, and the slidey eggs thing actually happened. Has anyone else found a simple heat step makes that big a difference?

Heating a pan dry before oil is just basic preheating, right? Is it really some secret trick or just how you’re supposed to use cast iron? My pan works fine without that extra minute.

Yeah, that dry heat trick is a game changer for new pans. My lodge was a nightmare until I started doing exactly that, it really does help the oil bond to the surface. @reese_perry6 maybe it's basic, but some of us had to learn the hard way, right?
