Serious question, who actually scrubs their cast iron with soap?

I used to be one of those people who never touched soap on my skillet. Then last week, I cooked a batch of bacon with a brown sugar glaze, and the sticky mess was unreal. I finally used a tiny drop of Dawn and a soft sponge, and honestly, the seasoning held up just fine. My grandma always told me soap would ruin it, but after that Tuesday night cleanup, I'm wondering if she was wrong. Has anyone else had a seasoning fail from a gentle soap wash?

Just read in Cook's Illustrated that modern dish soap is way milder than what our grandparents used.

Hold up hold up, @wade767 that cant be right. My grandma used to wash dishes with that old school dawn that felt like it stripped the grease off your hands too. No way they made it weaker and still call it dish soap.
