That fancy chainmail scrubber was a total waste of $25
Bought one of those expensive chainmail scrubbers online last spring thinking it would save my seasoning... turns out it just scraped everything off down to the bare iron. Spent three weeks and two full reseasoning sessions fixing the mess it made. A plain stiff nylon brush and hot water did the job for 15 years before that. Anyone else had a 'gadget' that wrecked their pan's finish worse than it helped?

Sucks you had to learn that the hard way, man. Those chainmail things sound like a scam, a nylon brush never hurt a good seasoning.

Yeah, that's a rough lesson. Good seasoning takes time to build.
