TIL my daily driver skillet is 15 years old
I was cleaning it yesterday and noticed the date stamp on the bottom. I got it as a housewarming gift in 2009 and have used it almost every day since. It's been through three moves, a dozen roommates, and I've never had to strip and re-season it. The surface is completely black and slick as glass now. Has anyone else had a pan that just kept getting better for over a decade without major work?

Give up after a year" is crazy to me. I mean, I've had the same cheap pan for like five years and it's fine. Maybe it's just how you're cleaning them or something.
