Update: My cat tried to steal a burger from the pan

She knocked the spatula and sent it flying, but the pan stayed rock solid on the stove. Now I know my seasoning can handle a little chaos, right?

Dealt with a similar mess last week when my dog lunged at the counter. My cast iron skillet stayed put because it's heavy and the grates grip it. I learned to always turn the handle away from the edge after that. The seasoning only helps with food release, not keeping the pan on the stove. Your cat's burger heist just proved your stove setup is solid.

Is @ryan_moore73 right that my seasoning isn't glue, bursting my kitchen master bubble?

Seasoning on a cast iron pan is that baked-in oil layer for non-stick cooking. It doesn't really help the pan stay on the stove, that's just the pan's weight or the burner grates doing their job. Your cat testing the spatula is more about the seasoning's slickness. Still, good to know nothing slid off the cooking surface.
