Old marshmallow bits sink differently after 3 months in the bag

I left a half-eaten bag of fruit cereal open for about 3 months and when I poured the milk, the marshmallows floated right away instead of sinking like fresh ones. They must have absorbed moisture and gotten denser, which changed the whole sipping texture at the bottom. Has anyone else noticed this with stale marshmallows affecting their milk rating?

Are you actually scoring your breakfast on a scale? The real issue is you ate cereal that's been sitting out that long, that's a bigger problem than whether the marshmallows float or sink. I mean, I've had stale cereal before and it's just crunchy in a bad way, not some science experiment. But hey, if this is the level of detail you need to enjoy your bowl, you do you.
