Cryovac vs plastic wrap for long term fridge storage

I always figured a deep vacuum seal was the only way to keep stuff from going bad in the walk-in. Then last month I had a case of romaine that I just wrapped tight in regular plastic wrap instead of bagging it. Lasted 10 days with barely any wilting. The vacuum bags were making the leaves get bruised and leak moisture. Now I only use the Cryovac for proteins and hard stuff. Anybody else find that plastic wrap works better for certain produce?

Did you try perforating the plastic wrap to let the lettuce breathe a bit?

Tried poking holes in the plastic once with a fork and ended up stabbing three of the leaves and ruining dinner. These days I just open the bag wide and whisper sweet nothings to my lettuce hoping it stays crisp. Usually ends with me apologizing to a sad wilted head of romaine. You got a go-to method that actually works or you just accept your fate like me?
