My pizza peel cracked in the middle of service last Saturday
I was pulling a margherita out of a 700 degree oven and the handle just snapped right off. Had to grab a sheet pan in a hurry, nearly dropped the whole thing on the floor. Been using that wooden peel for maybe two years, got it from a supply house in Chicago. Anyone else had a tool fail at the worst possible moment?

Grabbed that hot pizza right off the stone with my bare hands that night, not my finest moment. Honestly, I thought wooden peels were supposed to last forever until mine decided to betray me mid-service too. Ngl, now I'm looking at metal peels like they're the only true love I'll ever know in this kitchen.

@parker_bailey metal peels are the only way to go once you've been burned like that. I switched years ago and never looked back. They don't warp, they don't crack, and they slide under anything without fighting you. Wooden ones just get beat up over time no matter how careful you are. Why would anyone keep using something that's just going to fail on you at the worst possible moment?
