My prep station got a total makeover after a mess at the farmers market

I was doing a demo at the downtown Saturday market last month, chopping herbs for a sauce, and my whole station turned into a disaster zone of wet towels and slippery cutting boards. A older chef named Rosa from the stall next to mine just handed me a roll of that non-slip mesh matting and showed me how to wrap it under my board. It cost me about $8 for a roll at the hardware store, and I haven't had a single board slip since. Has anyone else found a cheap fix that totally changed their setup?

Wait... have any of y'all ever thought about using rubber shelf liner instead? The kind with the little holes in it for kitchen cabinets? I picked up a roll at the dollar store for like three bucks and it works just as good as the hardware store stuff. Stops my cutting board from sliding around on the counter but also keeps my mixing bowls from spinning when I'm whisking stuff. It's lasted way longer than I thought too, like six months so far.

Wait, does that stuff actually hold up to heat or moisture? I tried a similar dollar store liner once and it melted a little where I put a hot pot on it. Left a sticky mess. The hardware store stuff is made different for a reason.
