Wasted 200 bucks on a fancy mandoline that barely works

I bought this expensive stainless steel mandoline from a supply shop in Chicago last month because I thought it would save me time on prep. First day using it, the blade locked up halfway through a big batch of potatoes and I nearly sliced my finger trying to unjam it. Then the thickness adjustment dial stripped out after 3 uses, so now it just slides all over. Has anyone else had luck with those cheap plastic ones from the restaurant supply store? I'm done wasting money on fancy stuff.

Fancy stainless steel mandoline" sounds like you bought a showpiece, not a tool.
