Debate: Should you clean a chimney from the top down or bottom up?
I was up in Portland last week on a job for an old Victorian house. The homeowner told me he always cleans from the bottom up because it catches more debris in the firebox. But I've always gone top down with a drop cloth and a shop vac. He showed me his method and it did seem faster, but I feel like I got more soot out of the flue with my way. Has anyone else tried both and picked a side?
