Debate: Spending $450 on a premium brush kit - worth it or total waste?

I dropped $450 on a top tier brush set last spring and my flue cleaning time dropped by nearly 30 minutes a job... but my buddy spent $200 on a basic kit and says his results are just as good. Has anyone else found that expensive brushes actually pay off, or is it all hype?

Had a teacher friend who bought that exact set and said it cut her brush time in half during her side gig cleaning houses. She swore the bristles held up way better than her old drugstore brushes after a year of weekly use. Still, she admitted someone with lighter cleaning needs probably would be fine with a cheaper kit.
