I finally buckled and got a rotary brush kit after 5 years of hand brushing

I always swore hand brushing was good enough and those rotary kits were just a gimmick. But last month I had this huge creosote buildup in a flue from a wood stove in an old house, took me 2 hours with a hand brush. My buddy let me borrow his rotary kit for the next job and I finished in 25 minutes flat. It got way more gunk out too, especially the hard stuff. Anyone else fight switching over and then regret not doing it sooner?

Wait, you're saying it went from 2 hours to 25 minutes? That's insane, I literally can't believe it's that big of a difference. I've been hand brushing for like 5 years on my wood stove too and I just figured the rotary thing was for people who didn't know what they were doing (honestly thought it was overkill). But hearing you say it got more of the hard gunk out? I've got this one flue that always leaves black crust no matter how much I scrape. Okay you might have just convinced me to finally try one, even though my wallet is crying right now.

I heard the rotary ones also knock loose stuff that hand brushing just smears around.
