I finally saw why some guys swear by polypro liners instead of wool socks on a big job last Wednesday
I was up on a roof in north Denver last week, doing a full clean on this old house with a massive walk-in fireplace. Usually I just do wool socks, always have. But my buddy Matt showed up with these thin polypro liners under his regular socks. I thought it was nonsense until I was up there 6 hours in 20 degree wind. My feet were fine, his were bone dry. He said he switches to liners once the temp drops below freezing. I'm thinking about it for my next really cold job. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a difference on the really rough days?

Twenty degrees with wind and your buddy's feet were actually bone dry after six hours?

Huh, that's interesting but I mean, 20 degrees with wind isn't really that cold for a full day. Maybe it's just me but most wool socks I've used hold up fine down to single digits if you're moving around.
