I think brushing a chimney from the bottom up is actually faster than the usual top-down method people swear by

I tried it on a 3-story house in Portland last Tuesday and saved about 20 minutes because I didn't have to haul my gear up and down the roof twice. Has anyone else given this a shot or am I just getting lucky with these flues?

Six weeks with no callbacks? You are either the luckiest sweep in the PNW or your clients have zero vertical runs. I tried the bottom up method once on a 2 story in Gresham and got a call the next day because half the soot had caked up behind a damper I couldn't see from below.

Rolled up to a job in Bend last month and did the same thing on a 4 story with a steep pitch. Cut out at least 25 minutes because I didn't have to drag my tarps and rods back up after the first clean. The mess was a little worse down below but a drop cloth handled it fine. Been doing it this way for the last six weeks and haven't had a single call back.
