My extendable rod snapped mid-sweep on a 3-story in Portland

The locking collar gave out at the second joint while I was pushing through a heavy creosote pack, so I rigged a quick splint with duct tape and a section of PVC from my truck, but has anyone found a brand that doesn't do this after about 40 jobs?

Tape the joint before you start and swap rods out every couple years.
