Rotary brushes beat the old wire brush method for masonry flues

I used to swear by the classic 8 inch wire brush for everything, but after a job in Dayton last month on a 1930s brick flue, I switched to a rotary brush setup. The wire brush left grooves and missed soot packed into the corners, while the rotary knocked it clean in one pass. It took me 2 hours on that job versus 40 minutes with the rotary, and the homeowner noticed the difference on his camera inspection. Anyone else made the switch, or do you still trust the old school tools?
