That one homeowner who wanted me to 'just clean it from the outside'
Lady stood there in her bathrobe at 7am while I was setting up on her roof. She yells up that I don't need to go inside, just run a brush down from the top and call it good. Tried explaining creosote buildup and how the smoke chamber works. She cut me off and said 'I've had this fireplace 20 years, I know how it works.' I showed her the photo from my camera after I finally talked her into letting me do it right. The flue was choked with 3 inches of hard glaze. She went quiet. Didn't even say sorry. Has anyone else had a customer try to tell you how to do your job from the ground?

Funny how 20 years of experience means you've been doing it wrong the whole time. At least she finally saw the picture, my guy last week just told me I was trying to upsell him and slammed the door.

Yeah I saw some article about how most people just tune out the second they hear a pitch starting. Nathan851 you kinda nailed it though, sometimes people just refuse to listen no matter what you say.
