Dropped $180 on a home energy monitor last month and now I'm mad I waited

I always figured my electric bill was just high because of the old windows, but the monitor showed my space heater was eating $60 a month all on its own. Swapped it for a $40 blanket and the bill dropped by almost half, which convinced me that guessing about energy use is a waste of cash. Has anyone else found a surprise power hog in their place that they never would have guessed?
