Found a way to cut my home heating bill by 15% just by closing off two rooms

I started shutting the vents and doors to my spare bedroom and home office during winter here in Minnesota and my gas bill dropped from $180 to $153 last month, has anyone else tried zoning their heat like this?

Honestly that's smart but watch out for frozen pipes in those closed off rooms.

Hold up, closing vents can actually mess with your furnace. They're designed for a certain amount of airflow, and blocking it can make the system work harder or even overheat. You're better off just shutting the doors and letting the natural airflow do its thing without touching the vents.
