Just realized my neighbor in Tucson has been composting for 30 years without telling anyone

Old guy next door, probably 70s. Last week I saw him hauling a bucket of coffee grounds from the local cafe back to his yard. Got to talking and he showed me his setup - three bins in the corner, been doing it since the 90s. Said he's never bought fertilizer once. I've been throwing banana peels in the trash for years while this guy has been quietly turning waste into soil. Has anyone else had a neighbor who's way ahead of you on climate stuff but just never brings it up?

You really think he's "ahead" of you on climate stuff? I see it different. The guy's been composting since the 90s. Cool. But he never said a word about it for 30 years. That's not helping anyone but himself. If he's so far ahead, why keep it a secret? Seems like he just wanted free fertilizer and didn't care about spreading the idea. One guy's compost pile doesn't move the needle on anything. You're not behind. You're just normal. Most people don't compost because no one ever shows them how. This old timer could've been that guy but chose not to be. Give yourself some credit for even noticing and caring about it now.
