My neighbor's 20-year solar panel argument finally got to me

I used to think solar was a scam for my area since we get so much cloud cover in Portland. My neighbor Deb kept telling me her panels still made power on overcast days, and after 3 years of ignoring her I checked her utility bill. She produces about 70% of what she uses in winter and 110% in summer, so I ran my own numbers and my payback is around 9 years with the state credit. Has anyone else been convinced to go solar by someone's real data instead of the sales pitch?

Does anybody else's power company make it weird when you actually start producing more than you use?
