My town's new compost pickup made me rethink my trash can
For a long time, I just threw all my food scraps in the regular garbage (which felt normal, you know). But when Springfield started its curbside compost program six months ago, I had to get a separate bin. Now, my regular trash is maybe half full each week, and I see how much was just going to a landfill. Do you think these local programs are the best way to cut waste, or should the focus be on bigger policy changes first?

Wait, you used to throw all your food scraps in the regular trash? That's wild to me. Local programs are a great start because they show people the difference right away. We need both small steps and big policy, honestly.

Hey, did you see that study about how much less trash people make when they have a compost bin right in their kitchen? It was pretty eye opening.
