Noticed how much less trash we're putting out since our city added composting pickup

Our neighborhood in Portland got curbside composting bins about 6 months ago and I swear our household garbage went from 3 bags a week to maybe 1. The biggest change was food scraps - we used to just toss veggie peels and coffee grounds in the trash without thinking. Has anyone else seen a real difference in their waste after a similar program rolled out?

Oh man, the food scrap thing is the biggest game changer for sure! Tip is to keep a little compost bucket on your counter so you don't have to run out to the bin every single time you chop veggies.

Three days in and I've already caught myself walking to the counter with a handful of eggshells instead of tossing them. The bigger pattern is how much mental energy we waste on these tiny inefficiencies. Like how I used to keep measuring cups in three different cabinets because that's just how the kitchen was arranged. Once you start noticing these little friction points in your routine, you see them everywhere. The parking spot that's always 20 extra steps from the door. The light switch behind the door. Little things that add up to a lot of annoyance over a lifetime.
