Rain barrel install behind my garage changed my watering game

I put in a 50 gallon rain barrel last spring off my downspout in Columbus. First big storm filled it in 20 minutes, and I used that water for my tomatoes and peppers all July. My water bill dropped about $18 a month during the dry stretch. Anyone else hooking up a second barrel or trying a diverter setup for their garden?

Man, I gotta say I dont get the hype at all, that barrel is just a breeding ground for mosquitoes and algae unless youre dumping chemicals in it, plus $18 a month is nothing when you factor in the pump, hoses, and the time you spend messing with it. Seems like way more hassle than its worth just to save a few bucks on tap water.
