Shoutout to my cousin in Denver for showing me how wrong I was about electric cars

I thought they were just a quiet, expensive toy for rich people, but after driving his for a weekend and seeing the charging station map, I'm convinced it's a real, practical step forward for cutting down on fumes.

Yeah, it's funny how a quick test drive can completely flip your view. I used to say the same stuff about them just being golf carts for tech guys. Then I actually had to use one for a week while my car was in the shop. The quiet part is weird at first, but you get used to it fast, and not having to stop for gas is a game changer. The charging map really does show how many spots there are now, it's not just a few in fancy neighborhoods anymore.

Quiet and no gas stops are nice, but is it really that big a deal? The power still comes from somewhere, often a coal plant. What about long road trips where you wait an hour to charge? My neighbor had his battery replaced and it cost more than my used car. It feels like swapping one set of problems for another.
