Showerthought: the new 'green' housing development outside Phoenix is just a normal suburb with a few token solar panels...

I drove past it last weekend and the whole place is still built for cars, with huge lawns that will need constant watering in the desert, which makes the solar feel like a sad joke.

Yeah, and it's so frustrating because you can see the problem from space. Like @amy692 said, it's just greenwashing. They put up these shiny panels but then pave over everything for two-car garages and streets wide enough for tanks. The worst part is the landscaping, those perfect green lawns that are going to suck the Colorado River dry. It makes the whole solar thing feel pointless, like putting a band-aid on a broken leg.

I used to think those were a good step, but now it just seems like greenwashing.
