Swapped to a rain barrel system 3 months ago and my water bill dropped $47

I was sick of watering my garden with a hose all summer and watching the meter spin. Got a 55 gallon barrel off Craigslist for $20 and now I barely touch the spigot. Has anyone else tried cutting their water use with simple catchment?

You mentioned "that $47 drop" - is that really just the watering difference, or are you factoring in other seasonal stuff like pool usage or AC running more? I'm guessing summer sprinklers alone could eat that much, but if it's year-round that's a whole different beast. What's your baseline month to compare against?
