The week my street went all-in on solar, then the power went out anyway

Last June we had this weird stretch where five neighbors on my block in Columbus all got panels installed within seven days. It felt like a mini movement, everyone comparing quotes and roof angles over the fence. Then a transformer blew during a storm that Friday night and we were all in the dark for 11 hours, solar or not. The irony wasn't lost on anyone, but the real talk came Saturday morning when we realized the battery backup only covered the fridge and a couple lights. Has anyone else dealt with the reality that panels make you feel safe until they don't?

Did your neighbor's dog start barking at the inverter like mine does every time it clicks on?
