Trying to get my apartment building to start a compost bin took over a year

I thought it would be simple, just ask the property manager. That was 14 months ago. It took six emails, two in-person meetings, and finding a local service that would pick up from our address. The biggest hold-up was convincing them it wouldn't attract pests, which meant I had to research and present specific lidded bin models. Finally got the green light last month, but now I have to get my neighbors to actually use it. Has anyone else had to jump through this many hoops for something that seems so basic?

Ugh, I read an article about how property managers are the biggest block for this stuff. They just see extra work and risk. Getting the neighbors on board is a whole other fight... good luck.

Property managers often forget that happy tenants make their own jobs easier in the long run.
