Am I the only one who thinks conversational programming is overrated for simple parts?
I'm in a little debate with a guy at the local shop who swears by using conversational programming for everything, even for basic 2D profiles on our Haas mills. Last week I had a simple bracket job, maybe 10 drilled holes and a couple of slots, and he spent 20 minutes setting up the conversational cycle while I just wrote out the G-code by hand in 5 minutes. My part was done an hour before his, but he claimed mine had a rough edge because I didn't use the wear comp settings right. I mean, is it really worth the extra setup time on simple stuff? I get it for complex 3D work, but for basic stuff it feels like overkill. Has anyone else run into this split in their shop?

Rough edge from not using wear comp? Come on.
