Appreciation post: Bought a $40 coolant filter for my old mill and it's a game changer
My machine was always getting clogged with fines from aluminum, so I grabbed a basic magnetic paper filter unit online. It's been running for two weeks now and the coolant is still clean, plus my finish quality is way better. Anyone have tips on how often to actually change the filter paper?

Totally get the struggle with aluminum fines. I change my paper based on how dark it looks, usually every three to four weeks with light use. If you're running a lot of material, just peek at it weekly and swap it when it's fully gray.

But @mia_lee, waiting for it to go fully gray is how you ruin your filter.
