Feeler gauges became the hero at a backyard BBQ mishap

We were at a buddy's BBQ last month, and his new patio table wouldn't sit level. Every time someone set a drink down, it wobbled and nearly spilled. It was getting really annoying. I had my CNC tool bag in the truck, so I fetched my feeler gauges. I checked the gaps under each leg and found one was way higher. We folded a few napkins to shim it up, using the gauges to get it just right. Everyone laughed, calling me the table whisperer, but it worked perfectly. It was a silly fix that turned into a chat about how we use these tools for machine setup. What odd jobs have you used your shop tools for lately?

Last week, my digital caliper ended up in the kitchen. My daughter said her sandwich cheese was cut unevenly, so I measured each slice. Turns out one piece was almost a millimeter thicker than the others. We reshuffled the slices and she was happy, but my wife rolled her eyes at the tool misuse.

My kitchen scale got used for cookie dough portions last month. Precision baking is a thing, my partner just sighs when I pull it out now.

Nice, that's a proper tool hack right there.
