Figured out why my 5 year old Haas was throwing alarm 167 after 8 hours of hunting
Machine kept dropping out mid cycle with that stupid spindle load alarm. I spent all day Tuesday swapping sensors and checking the VFD only to find a 50 cent O-ring on the coolant line was shot. It was letting just enough coolant mist hit the encoder. Spent 2 hours on forums and another 4 actually working on it. Total waste of a shift for something a dab of silicone wouldve fixed. Has anyone else had a tiny leak cause major phantom issues like that?

I spent a whole afternoon once chasing a bad ground on a CNC lathe turned out to be a half crushed soda can under the panel shorting things out. It's always the cheap stuff that makes you feel like an idiot.

My buddy had a similar thing on his Okuma lathe last year. He was going crazy over a misaligned turret for like 3 days. Turned out his apprentice had dropped a 10mm socket in the chip tray and it was just rattling around hitting the home sensor at random times. Took 2 minutes to find once he finally looked.
