Had a coolant line burst on a 2017 Haas VF2 last Thursday

The fitting just gave out mid-cycle, sprayed everything. What's your go-to for checking those lines before they pop?

Man, that's the worst. It's like those little plastic clips on garden hoses that get brittle and snap. I've gotten in the habit of just running a hand along the lines during a tool change, feeling for any soft spots or bulges. If it feels sticky or leaves residue on your fingers, that line is toast.

Start running your hand along the lines every time you do a tool change, like sandralee said. It's wild how much that simple habit applies to everything, not just machines. I do the same thing with my phone charger cable at home - if it feels stiff or kinked in one spot, I know it's gonna fail in a week. Same with the rubber hose on my pressure washer, caught a crack before it turned into a geyser. It's that whole "feel it before it fails" mindset, once you start doing it on one thing, you just do it everywhere.

Ugh, that's such a mess to clean up. Sandralee's trick about feeling for sticky spots is a good one.
