Had to pick between a $20 Harbor Freight clamp and a $80 name-brand one last week
I was setting up a new fixture for a batch of aluminum parts (nothing fancy, just some brackets) and realized my old clamp was stripped bad. So I ran to the hardware store and stood there staring at two options: a cheap clamp for 20 bucks or a nicer one for 80. I went cheap because my wallet was hurting after that long weekend. Big mistake. The clamp slipped halfway through the second run and threw my cut off by like .015 inches. Now I have to re-do 12 parts and the scrap pile is growing. Anyone else learn this lesson the hard way or am I just stubborn?.

My wallet has made that same "good decision" about five times now, each one costing me more in frustration than the savings. At this point my "buy cheap" budget is basically just funding a scrap metal art project I never asked for.
