My old foreman told me to always run a dry cycle on a new program, and I'm glad I listened
He said it after a guy in our shop in Dayton crashed a VF-2 by trusting the simulation, which didn't account for a weird tool holder offset. I started a complex 5-axis job yesterday, ran the dry cycle, and it tried to rapid the spindle straight through the fixture. Who else has caught a near-miss this way?

Ever wonder how many machines owe their lives to a dry run?

Honestly @juliaa25, my old truck's engine is only running because I did a dry start check last winter. Tbh I'd be walking everywhere without that habit.

That dry start check saved my '87 F150 from a cracked block last November when temps hit minus 20. It's amazing how a minute of turning the engine over without fuel can prevent a whole world of trouble.
