Old timer's coolant advice finally clicked after a $900 mistake

This guy I sub for in Tulsa kept telling me to stop using that cloudy water mix in my machine, swore by the milky synthetic stuff. I figured he was just set in his ways, you know, grandfather type. Last month I ran a job with 300 parts and got terrible tool wear plus this weird film on everything, ended up scrapping half the batch. Switched to his recommendation and the finish quality is night and day, not to mention the inserts are lasting way longer. Anyone else had a veteran operator's gut call save them after you doubted it for a while?

Damn, I burned through a whole box of inserts before admitting my grandpa was right about the coolant, so yeah, I feel your pain.
