Saw a guy hand-scraping a Bridgeport saddle at a shop in Akron and it made my head hurt
Stopped by a small job shop in Akron to pick up a rebuilt vise and the owner was out back hand-scraping the saddle on a Bridgeport. He showed me his blueing marks and said he was chasing about 0.0015 inches of twist, and he'd been at it for three evenings after work. I run a VMC all day so watching someone pull a scraper by hand made me feel like I've been taking the easy road. Any of you ever scrape a machine in yourselves, or do you just send the ways out when they get sloppy?
